Oysters naturally bioaccumulate heavy metals from their environment — including cadmium and lead — as part of their biology. No oyster product, regardless of source, can guarantee levels below California's Prop 65 thresholds, which are among the strictest in the world. Frtil spent six months testing oyster samples from seven countries before selecting their New Zealand source — the one with the highest micronutrient density and the lowest detectable heavy metal levels they found. The warning is on the bottle because California law requires it. The sourcing decision is the mitigation.

Oyster meat is one of the most zinc-dense whole foods that exists — and it comes with natural cofactors (B12, copper, selenium, iodine) that don't come in a synthetic zinc pill. The zinc glycinate is added to bring the total zinc per serving to a consistent, clinically relevant dose. The oyster delivers the whole-food nutrient matrix; the glycinate delivers the dose. This product is formulated for the preconception window — not for use during pregnancy. If you become pregnant while taking it, stop and speak with your care provider. The heavy metal picture for pregnancy is more cautious than for general fertility support, and Frtil positions this product specifically for the trying-to-conceive stage.

Yes. Frtil formulates this for daily use throughout the preconception period. Follow the label directions (3 capsules per serving). If you're stacking with other zinc sources, be mindful of total daily zinc intake — the tolerable upper limit for adults is 40mg/day.
