WHY WE CARRY IT
An everyday cotton pair.
This is Saalt's cotton period underwear. The body is 95% cotton; the gusset and lining that absorb and hold flow are polyester-based. Saalt rates Regular for a regular flow or as backup to a cup or disc, and Heavy and Super for heavy days, overnight, bladder leaks and postpartum wear.
Saalt says it is not treated with PFAS and that the fibers are OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified for this garment. Saalt doesn't say where it's made.
Cotton body
95% cotton, 5% elastane, per Saalt.
Synthetic gusset and lining
Gusset 100% polyester; lining recycled polyester, elastane and polyurethane.
Three absorbencies
Regular about 3 tampons, Heavy about 4, Super 8 or more, per Saalt.
OEKO-TEX, not treated with PFAS
Per Saalt; Standard 100 certified for this garment.
Details, with care.
Rinse in cold water after use to help avoid staining. Hand wash, or machine wash on cold, preferably in a mesh laundry bag. Detergent is fine; skip fabric softener and bleach, and don't iron. Hang dry: Saalt says dryer heat can wear down the elastics and fabric over time.
If you're new to period underwear, Saalt suggests trying one pair before opening the rest.
Absorbency, per Saalt: Regular holds about 3 tampons or 2 pads; Heavy about 4 tampons or 3 pads; Super 8 or more tampons or 6 or more pads.
Fulfillment varies by product. Orders shipping from different locations may arrive separately, with separate tracking. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A strong, well-sourced product that met our Standard in every meaningful way. Trusted products may have a small number of minor trade-offs that we've evaluated and are transparent about. They belong on this shelf.
Why we chose this product:
The body is 95% cotton, the fibers are OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified for this garment, and Saalt says it is not treated with PFAS, with its own garment test results published. It's made to be washed and worn again. Trusted rather than Hero Pick because the layer that sits against the body is the 100% polyester gusset, with a lining of recycled polyester, elastane and polyurethane beneath it. Leakproof underwear can be built with cotton against the skin and the synthetic layers underneath, and we'd rate that construction higher. Saalt also doesn't say where it's made. Independent testing in 2021 found fluorine in a pair bought in 2020; a 2023 retest found none.
