A mother has twelve browser tabs open, trying to figure out which prenatal is actually clean, whether the swaddle is worth it, what is marketing, and what is actually supportive.

She cares. She is paying attention. She wants to make thoughtful choices.

She is also tired.

I am the mother I am building this for.

Mama Yola is for the woman who wants cleaner, more intentional care across fertility, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and baby — but does not have the time, energy, or capacity to sort through every product, claim, ingredient, and recommendation alone.

It is also for the people who love her.

Why I'm building this

I did not set out to build another motherhood shop. I started building Mama Yola because I know what it feels like to enter motherhood without the full picture.

With my first birth, I did not know what I did not know.

I did not know what questions to ask. I did not fully understand my options. I did not have the kind of information or resources that would have helped me feel more prepared, more confident, or more connected to the care I was receiving.

That experience stayed with me.

By the time I was preparing for my second birth, I had spent years learning. I changed how I lived, what I ate, what I used, and who I listened to. I found a midwife. I asked different questions. I felt more confident choosing a different kind of care.

That care included both ancestral and modern forms of nourishment and support.

I used beef organ supplements. I paid attention to food and minerals. And when my iron levels needed more support than oral supplements could give, I received iron infusions at the hospital.

That was one of the clearest lessons for me: holistic care does not mean rejecting modern medicine.

It means being informed enough to know when different kinds of care are needed. It means honoring the body without pretending we can do everything alone. It means having access to wisdom, support, and options — and being able to make decisions from a place of clarity instead of fear.

My second birth was not different because everything was perfect.

It was different because I was more informed. I had better resources. I had better questions. I had care that felt more aligned.

What Mama Yola is responding to

The motherhood space has gotten loud.

Between the pink tax, the baby markup, endless product claims, and the idea that parents will pay anything for their babies, there is so much stuff — and sometimes you do not even know where to look.

So many products feel like they exist just to be sold, not because they truly support mothers, babies, or families.

And at the same time, I know better options are not always easy to find. Cleaner things are not always affordable. More thoughtful care is not always accessible. The mothers I know are doing the best they can with what they have.

So there is no shame here.

Mama Yola is not here to make motherhood feel more complicated.

The Mama Yola Standard

Mama Yola is a curated maternal wellness shop for fertility, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and baby. We bring together trusted products, thoughtful education, and care that honors both ancestral wisdom and modern support.

Every product is reviewed through the Mama Yola Standard — our internal vetting framework — before it makes it to the shelf.

We look at ingredients, sourcing, manufacturing, claims, materials, transparency, and how a brand actually serves the people it says it serves.

We do not loosen the standard for sponsorships.

A big name does not scare us. A small maker does not disqualify them. If a product is good, aligned, and thoughtfully made, we want to know about it. If it is not aligned, it does not belong on our shelf.

We are launching with curated bundles for fertility, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and baby's first weeks — alongside goods from small makers, birth-centered brands, culturally rooted traditions, and books we would genuinely recommend to someone preparing for this season.

I want Mama Yola to feel like care you can come home to.

Why crowdfunding

I am crowdfunding because I believe this kind of work should begin in community. Community is not a marketing layer for Mama Yola. It is the foundation.

This campaign helps fund our first inventory, packaging, launch materials, and the early systems that allow Mama Yola to open with care and integrity.

And because this is a direct pre-sale, every contribution goes through the Mama Yola site from day one. You are not just donating from the sidelines. You are helping us build the actual storefront, the first shelves, and the first version of the village.

If we do not hit the full goal, what we raise still moves Mama Yola forward. Every contribution counts.

There is another reason I chose to do it this way: it creates shared investment from the beginning.

I especially want doulas, midwives, pelvic-floor specialists, birth advocates, lactation professionals, and integrative practitioners to feel like Mama Yola is something they can stand behind.

This is not only for the people who shop here.

It is for the village that holds them.
