MAMA YOLA  ·  WHERE MODERN MOTHERHOOD MEETS TIMELESS CARE

There's a moment that keeps happening — a mama with twelve browser tabs open, trying to figure out which prenatal is actually clean, whether that swaddle is worth it, what's marketing and what's medicine. She cares. She's also tired.

I am the mom I'm building this for. Mama Yola is for the mother who cares deeply, wants cleaner and more intentional care, and does not have time to sort through every product, claim, and ingredient alone — and for the people who love her.

I did not set out to build another motherhood shop. I started building Mama Yola because I lived the version of motherhood where support felt scattered — and then I lived the version where support changed everything.

I'm a single mom — that's part of why I care about this so much. Mama Yola is built for real mothers in real circumstances, not the magazine-cover version.

My first birth didn't have the support I wanted around me. By my second birth, I had spent years changing how I lived, what I ate, what I used, and who I listened to. I found a midwife. I had a healthy, successful VBAC. I also used modern medicine when I needed it — timely support with my iron levels helped me stay safely on the path I had chosen. That was the lesson early: holistic care does not mean rejecting modern medicine.

My second birth was everything that it could be, that I didn't know that it could be. Once you've felt that difference, you can't unfeel it.

The space has gotten congested. Between the pink tax, the baby markup, and the idea that parents will pay anything for their babies, there's so much stuff, and you kind of don't even know where to look. So many products feel like they exist just to be sold — not to actually support mothers, babies, or families.

We've also lost the village. So much of modern motherhood feels individualistic and cold. Some of that has to do with how we've replaced presence with product — machines and gadgets marketed as substitutes for shushing, rocking, and human contact. Some tools genuinely help. But not everything sold to mothers is care, and mothers deserve to know the difference.

The other side is true too: cleaner things are not always affordable. Better is not always accessible. The mothers I know are doing the best they can with what they have. There is no need to be pointing our fingers.

Mama Yola is built in the gap between convenience and conviction.

Mama Yola is a curated maternal wellness shop across fertility, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and baby. Every product is reviewed through the Mama Yola Standard — our internal vetting framework — before it makes it to the shelf. The standard looks at ingredients, sourcing, manufacturing, claims, materials, and how a brand actually treats the people it serves. It's the work that lets us say: this one, yes. This one, not yet. This one, here's why.

We don't loosen the standard for a sponsorship. A name doesn't scare us. If it's a good product, it's a good product. If it's not aligned, it's not aligned.

We're launching with curated bundles for fertility, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and baby's first weeks — alongside goods from small makers, birth-centered brands, culturally rooted traditions, and books we'd genuinely recommend to someone preparing for this season.

Two things can be true. You can want ancestral wisdom and modern support in the same shop. You can want clean care and a real life. You can want education without fear, information without shame, discernment without perfectionism.

I want Mama Yola to feel like care you can come home to.

I'm crowdfunding because I really do believe this works in community. Community isn't a marketing layer for Mama Yola — it's the foundation. I wanted transparency, accountability, and shared investment from the very beginning, before the storefront even opens.

I chose iFundWomen because the platform fits the brand. The flexible funding model means even if we don't hit the full goal, what we raise still goes toward Mama Yola. Every contribution counts.

There's another reason: it puts me on the line. Now we've promised to do this thing, and now we have to follow through.

I especially want doulas, midwives, pelvic-floor specialists, birth advocates, and integrative practitioners to feel like Mama Yola is something they can stand behind. This isn't only for the people who shop here. It's for the village that holds them.

Education is the thread that ties everything together. The products matter, but the reason people come back is that they learned something — about their body, their baby, their options, themselves.

Three ways to be part of this:

Back the campaign at any tier — every pledge moves Mama Yola closer to opening, and every backer becomes part of the village that built it.

Share with one mother who would feel held by something like this. One forward to the right person matters more than a hundred to the wrong list.

If you're a practitioner — doula, midwife, birth worker, integrative provider — send this to a colleague or a client who deserves to know it exists.

We see you. We see that you're trying. We see that it's hard.

A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER

This wasn't built in a boardroom. It was built in a kitchen, at a table, between feedings and folding, by a mother who lived the version without the support and then lived the version with it.

This is the beginning of the village we are building.

There is something here for you.

With care,
Yakira Yolanda
